Bryan Gilfillan’s sixth minute penalty was enough to secure the win for the Coast side, despite the encounter being closely matched and evenly fought out.

The award ceremony took place after the full time whistle along with the presentation of the Premiership trophy to Sunshine Coast FC, and the individual awards of the league, Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot.

There were no surprises in regards to Golden Boot - Sunshine Coast’s Shaun Blackman’s impressive feat of 21 goals in the Hyundai QSL regular season won him the league’s inaugural prize, while Brisbane Strikers young gun Adam Sarota was the Hyundai QSL Most Valuable Player for 2008.

The Rebel Sport Player of the Match was awarded to the goal scorer, Bryan Gilfillan of Sunshine Coast FC.
