Perth Glory have secured the services of the experienced A-League winger Fabio Ferreira on a one-year deal - with further signings expected soon.
The former Adelaide United, Central Coast Mariners and Sydney FC man had been on trial with Tony Popovic's side for the past two weeks.
He is the club's sixth signing since Popovic took charge in May, following the arrivals of Ivan Franjic, Tomislav Mrcela, Brendon Santalab, Matthew Spiranovic and Tando Velaphi.
“Tony asked me to come here for two weeks and he’s decided to keep me, so I’ve signed a contract for the season,” said Ferreira.
“Everything has gone well and I’m very pleased to have signed. It’s been a tough couple of weeks, but that’s the way it has to be. You have to work hard if you want to win."
“I’ve scored a few goals and played quite well against Glory in the past and now I want to play well against every other team!
“It’s looking very promising here. The players are training well and looking in great shape.”
Having come through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea as a teenager, Ferreira debuted in the A-League with Adelaide United in 2012, and hit 13 goals for the Reds in 51 appearances over three seasons.
He featured from off the bench as United won the 2014 FFA Cup against Glory in 2014.
A further 15 goals in 55 games followed on the Central Coast, after which he moved to Malaysia for a brief stint with PKNS FC. He joined Sydney FC on a short-term deal last season, playing five times for the Premiership winners.
Glory's Football Director Jacob Burns is delighted to add a player of Ferreira's versatility.
"He can play anywhere across the front third, which means the manager is going to have some great selection headaches in that area this year," he said.
The club have added that further player announcements are expected "in the very near future."
