Mitch Nichols, who has scored nine times in eight appearances for Gold Coast side Palm Beach this morning signed a two-year contract, to begin on July 1.

Nichols stands at 185cm and Frank Farina was so impressed watching the youngster in action, he snapped up the attacking midfielder.

“There had been a few rumours around lately and a few bit and pieces in the papers about Queensland Roar being interested, but I didn’t think I would be signing a contract today,” said Nichols.

“I’m really excited and I want to push hard to be included in the squad. I’ve had a good season so far in the local competition and now I want to prove to myself that I can make the step up into the Hyundai A-League."

Frank Farina said: "He has to apply himself now and adjust to life as professional player, but he has enough raw talent to make an impression."
