The Socceroos have made an excellent start to life under new coach Holger Osieck and they are expected to face Egypt in another friendly as the Asian Cup looms ever closer.

"We are the number one ranked team in Asia and the boys want to live up to that expectation," Galekovic told theĀ Adelaide Advertiser.

" We have another game to go against Egypt before the Asian Cup and spots up for grabs which makes things competitive."

But the immediate focus for Galekovic is the matter of trying to extend his club side's unbeaten start to the A-League season and next up for the Reds, it's Gold Coast United.

He added: "Gold Coast away is tough. We haven't beaten them up there and Jason Culina has just come away from the Socceroos and Bruce Djite is scoring a few goals of late."
