BRISBANE Roar captain Matt McKay has the tools in his locker to become one of the Socceroos big-hitters, says club boss Ange Postecoglou.
Earning rave reviews for his performances so far this season - as part of a team being hailed for its terrific football - McKay is part of the Socceroos squad to face Egypt.
Postecoglou has previously stated that he feels McKay can push on to be a key figure for the Socceroos and is delighted to see the player getting recognition.
"It's fantastic, great for him and great for the club and again, great vindication for his outstanding form that he's had this year," Postecoglou told Roar's official website.
"I said at the start of the year that I thought Matty had the ability to be one of the influential players in the A-League, I think he's that now.
"Now his next step, I think he's capable of getting a first team spot in a Socceroos team.
"I don't say that lightly, I know what's required to play at that level and I just see it in him that he can push for a starting spot in our strongest Socceroo team."
